To spread awareness of Open Source Software in their students , the Principal of Chaudhary Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, Gujarat invited Openkick and Gloscon company team members to their Institute for a presentation and workshop.  Chaudhary Technology Insitute is the only girls college in Gujarat that offers Masters in Computer Application(MCA) course. Openkick Technologies Pvt Limited is training divison of Gloscon Solution Inc. providing training to IT graduates in Gujarat in Drupal and Ruby on Rails. More than 35 Students of Second Semester MCA from college took part in seminar and gained valuable knowledge about open source frameworks like drupal and ruby on rails.

Contrary to other short workshops that we had been conducting across Gujarat IT colleges and technical institutes for Drupal, Ruby on Rails this was difficult one for us from time management perspective. We usually require colleges to have their labs setup (as a pre-requisite) with lamp/wamp and with rails env setup and they should have a small test done for Drupal / RoR app. In this case we spent nearly 30 mins in getting the lab ready for workshop and we could only do it for Drupal.  Rails configuration does take more time and we had to skip the workshop for RoR because of lack of time.

The students showed tremendous enthusiasm to learn drupal and to know more about various technology trends in current market. This seminar provided the students an effective medium to know about Drupal CMS that is getting a lot of attention around the world. The market overview and initial speech was delivered  by Mr. Roshan Shah - CEO of Gloscon Solution Inc.

Mr. Roshan Shah showcased some prominent Drupal sites like Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Mozila firefox, MTV, NASA, Discovery, SUN and Yahoo Research, After that Mr. Roshan Shah gave some introduction of Ruby on Rails, features, advantage, its popularity and what it will mean to growth in Ruby on Rails with Oracle acquiring Sun Microsystems and possibly Java folks switching to Rails. Mr. Shah also showcased few Ruby on Rails sites like Twitter, LinkedIn, Zvents, etc followed by some cool products Gloscon is building using Drupal and Ruby on Rails.

Mr Ujval Shah, Mr. Barinder Saini, and Ms. Pinal Salot took charge of workshop. They covered various topic like What is CMS?, Drupal Installation, Drupal folder structure, Implementation process, Core module functionality,Theme integration, Drupal terminology and introduction of contributed modules and how to extend Drupal., Technical members also conducted a workshop that walked through how a person can create their website with basic functionality in Drupal in few minutes.

Students were very excited by the knowledge of Gloscon team members and showed keen interest to join Gloscon for their internship and final semester projects. They also were very keen to have a second session for Ruby on Rails which Mr. Shah spoke very highly about.
